Relax & Create on Inishbofin Island

County Galway, West-coast of Ireland

R&C STUDIO invites creative people to this inspiring environment, far away from the outside world. On this stunning island we have accommodation in our fully installed two-bedroom Guesthouse “Bofin Cottage”. We welcome writers, composers, musicians to stay and work in our “Writers Lodge”, a wooden stand alone log cabin with great views through all windows, looking at the sea from a distance… Instruments, recording and live performance equipment are provided (see equipment and instruments). With or without Philippe Robrecht as producer, composer, musician. Surrounded by green, birds, fauna & flora, silence, you can write, play and record in all privacy.

Philippe Robrecht.

Philippe has been home-recording since he was a teenager, exploring a wide range of instruments (synths, sampler, drums, percussion & drum machines, guitar, bass, ...) and gear that allows you to record every part of the song (sequencer, tape, computer). He produced most of his own albums and has been recording in Galaxy Studios Mol (B), Studio Crescendo Genk (B), Vintage Studio Weesp (NL), Wisseloord Studio Hilversum (NL), Silverwoodstudio Newtownmountkennedy (IE), CBS Studio London (GB), … He recorded with the London Symphonic Orchestra (album Magie) and the Metropole Orchestra Hilversum NL (Brel-project with Liesbeth List). He had his own studio in Belgium but moved to Inishbofin for his new project R&C STUDIO, where everything is about the idea, the inspiration...

Philippe Robrecht recorded 8 albums as a singer-song-writer in Belgium: Magie, Hoopvol, Vertrouwen, Storm, Dwarsligger, Robrecht, Robrecht-Live and Eiland.
His first album “Magie” (1992 BMG Ariola) was ‘Gold’ and opened the way to the big audience. Some songs are classics, still played on national radio. Occasionally he wrote for other artists and many different projects like “Titanic vol kinderen”, “Mega-project”, events, musicals, tunes, commercials...

Philippe played bass in his own bands but guitars or piano when playing solo. He was always interested in all ingredients of the song. While composing he tried to arrange the whole song recording all parts of it as a demo before going to the studio with his band. Playing live he tried to approach the guitar as ‘the whole band’, supporting his or someone else’s singing.
